Crochet Picnic Blanket Concept

As soon as spring hits, I get the itch to be outside. Vibrant florals mixed with sunny, not-quite-hot weather make it the perfect time for outdoor adventures. This picnic blanket is a great companion for those moments.

It features classic red and white gingham made from solid granny squares to help minimize holes. Whether you’re meeting friends for a picnic at the park or spending a quiet day alone in nature, this blanket has you covered. 

Materials

• 5 mm crochet hook 

• I Love This Yarn!, 40 Red (Color A)

• I Love This Yarn!, 10 White (Color B)

(Or 2 yarns in your preferred colors)

• Tapestry Needle 

• Scissors (or yarn snips)

Notes 

• The written instructions for the Solid Granny Square are provided but I have also included the chart for visual purposes and those who prefer it

• When you see brackets ([ ]) this indicates that the instructions within the brackets are meant to be completed the written amount of times

• Each square will measure around 5 inches both ways but depending on your preferred size you can alter the size of the square by adding or subtracting the number of rows you crochet

• For seaming I used a basic mattress stitch so that the seams would not show but you can use whatever method is best for you and your needs
