When starting the panels you can create the foundation chain and first row all in one by using Foundation Single Crochet stitches. This also makes it so that you can add stitches easier if you miscount or feel like your initial count was too little
At the start of each row after row 1, instead of a Ch 2 you can do 2 stacked single crochet. This creates flatter sides
Each panel made creates both the back and front so when deciding on how many rows you need, figure out how many rows it takes to reach the length you want then multiply that by 2
Since this is Made-to-Measure you’ll want to try on the cardigan throughout to get your desired fit
Panels :
ch enough stitches to fit around half of your bust/chest + 1
R1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and across
R2: Turn, Ch 2, Ch 1, sk 1 st, [DC in the next st, sk 1 st, DC in next st], Repeat [] across
R3 - R#: Repeat R2 for your desired number of rows
R# +1: Turn, Ch 1, sc in 1st st, [sc in ch-1 sp, sc in next st], Repeat [] across.
Turn to the side and sc across (2 sc into the side of each row)
Fold each panel in half and mark with stitch markers
Seam the non-sc sides together in the back up to the stitch markers (leave a few sts unseamed around the top for your neck)
(Try on the Cardigan and mark where you want the armholes to end with stitch markers)
Seam the sides from the bottom upward to the bottom of armhole
Turn to the RS
Attach yarn to one of the armholes, sc around for 2 rows
*Repeat for the other sleeve*
Attach yarn to bottom right corner, sc around for 2 rows
Congratulations, your Cardigan is finished!
